Tissue Collection

The Frozen Tissue Collection contains a variety of material (liver, kidney, muscle, etc) for over 20,000 vertebrate specimens. In many cases, the vouchers from which the sample was taken are cataloged in the appropriate division of the TCWC. This collection is composed primarily of mammal tissues obtained from genetic related projects of researchers at Texas A&M University; however, it also contains voucher samples of specimens obtained by Dr. Michael Mares, of the University of Oklahoma, as part of a survey of the mammal fauna of Argentina. These materials are maintained in ultracold freezers at -70 degrees Celsius and are located in the research laboratory of the curator of this collection, Dr. Rodney L. Honeycutt.
